Get a cycle down. Make the time
for it.
I find that I can do 2 coats in 10 minutes. I start with the first
tires and work my way to the fourth. By the time the forth is finished the
first tire is able to take the second coat. Again, I work from the first to
the fourth. After I'm finished I put the tires away and wait for the next
day.
Get a clean empty paint can, a
aluminum sheet pan and a paint roller.
This will eliminate the mess and prevent waste. See
the video for an example. Empty paint cans can be purchased at any hardware
store as well as the rollers. The aluminum sheet pans can be purchased at
"Restaurant Supply" in Mapunapuna and Kalihi.
Don't forget to coat the
"crown" of the tires
Meaning the outer edges to ensure grip when the tire rolls over. In the
video you can see that the roller usually starts on the outer edge.
Easier when the car is on jacks
This would be for dedicated race cars only.
Allow 48 hours to rest.
72 hours is even better. While wet, Formula V is very 'greasy'. The more
time it has to set the better. If you can't get a full 48 hours consider
driving down to the event provided you don't live more that 60 minutes from
the track.
Wrap the tires in plastic wrap.
This prevents evaporation of the product thus conserving usage. Apply a
light coat then wrap the tire with plastic wrap. I personally haven't
verified this method.
